The intent of this contract is to furnish all labor, equipment and materials necessary for the repair and/or stabilization of 15 storm damage sites on Forest Service Road M8 of the Upper Lake Ranger District, Mendocino National Forest. Major items of work include, but are not limited to the following: clearing; excavation; outsloping; construction of rolling dips; construction of rock fords; construction of low water crossing using gabion baskets; installation of geocomposite sheet drain; installation of 6-inch perforated corrugated polyethyelene pipe; installation of 6-inch nonperforated corrugated polyethyelene pipe; removal of 18-inch corrugated metal pipe and appurtenances; placement of crushed aggregate surface course; and seeding and mulching. LOCATION: The project is located on the Upper Lake Ranger District of the Mendocino National Forest. To reach the project area from Ukiah (California), take State Highway 101 north seven miles to the junction of Highway 20, thence five miles east to the junction of County Road 240, thence north five miles to Potter Valley, thence north two miles on County Road 240B to the junction with Forest Sevice Road M8.(M.P.0.00). However, a major washout prevents access beyond M.P. 0.8 (Site M8-3) from this end. Access to the majority of the sites will be via alternate routes on Forest Service road 18N05 or M8 from the northeast end (currently closed). PREPROPOSAL CONFERENCE: A preproposal conference is scheduled for Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Interested parties are to meet at the Upper Lake Ranger Station, 10025 Elk Mountain Road, Upper Lake, CA.
