The U.S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals from selected contractors for the pavement replacement project at the Kailua Kona, Hawaii - Main Office. The project generally consists of the following: 1) Remove existing 20,000 SF of asphalt and base. Prepare rough grade (10 inches deep). Compact the entire area to 95% and replace with new 6-inch base and 4-inch asphalt concrete; 2) Overlay 25,000 SF of 2-inch asphalt concrete over paving fabric and tack coat; 3) Saw cut at customer sidewalk to accommodate two concrete handicap ramps to comply with ADA; 4) Restripe the entire parking lot; paint three handicap logos per local codes and stripe three handicap aisles; and 5) Remove 3,600 SF of existing pavement to 12-inch deep and replace with new 6-inch reinforced concrete and 6-inch base course. Estimated cost range is $100,000 to $110,000. The work is to be completed within 30 calendar days from the notice to proceed date.
