Pre-Solicitation Notice. This project is for Phase II of a four-phase project for the complete Renovation of the Industrial Wing for the USDA, ARS, Southern Regional Research Center (SRRC), located at 1100 Robert E Lee Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70179. To allow for ongoing occupancy and operation of the building, the work is being performed in phases. Phase I has been completed and the remaining phases will be performed at a later date. Phase II is divided into two parts, II A and II B. The project involves the complete renovation of the laboratories and support spaces. Phase II A & II B will encompass work on all four floors and the mechanical penthouse and will include asbestos abatement, demolition, and completion renovation of the spaces within the limits of construction. The renovations include new partitions, doors, laboratory fixed casework, floors, ceilings, air handling units, HVAC ductwork, fire sprinkler system, plumbing including laboratory gases, electrical distribution system, communication system, fire alarm system, and lighting. This procurement will be conducted on an unrestricted basis in accordance with the Small Business Competitive Demonstration Program and will use sealed bid procedures. Bid Bonds will be required. The estimated price range for Phase II A & II B is between $1 million and $5 million. Completion time will be 900 calendar days, including a 45-day period between Phase II A and II B to relocate personnel and equipment. A Pre-Bid Conference will be scheduled. The solicitation is scheduled to be issued o/a June 11, 2002, and bids will be opened o/a July 31, 2002. A FEDBIZOPPS SYNOPSIS WILL BE POSTED O/A MAY 28, 2002, WITH INSTRUCTIONS FOR VIEWING AND PURCHASE OF THE SOLICITATION PACKAGE.
