CARTER FISH PASSAGE: The project provides for replacement of the existing stream crossings with crossings designed to provide for fish and other aquatic organism passage at mile posts 2.67 and 3.80 on Forest Road 39N08, across East Fork of the South Fork Salmon River and Trail Gulch, respectively. Complete channel diversion, removal of existing corrugated structural plate pipe, temporary traffic bypass, and installation of bottomless box culverts are required. The project also requires excavation of fills, haul and placement fill material, haul and placement of class VII riprap, and placement of an aggregate surface course. This project is being funded by the Jobs-in-the-Woods program and, thus, competition is legislatively restricted to certain counties in Washington, Oregon and northern California. Contract will only be awarded to a firm that is located in one of the following eligible counties: Washington: Okanogan, Douglas, Chelan, Kittitas, Yakima, Klickitat, Skamania, Clark, Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, Pacific, Lewis, Pierce, Thurston, Grays Harbor, Mason, Jefferson, Clallam, Kitsap, Island, San Juan, King, Snohomish, Skagit, and Whacom; Oregon: Wasco, Jefferson, Deschutes, Lake, Klamath, Jackson, Josephine, Curry, Coos, Douglas, Lane, Linn, Benton, Lincoln, Washington, Columbia and Clatsop; California: Siskiyou, Shasta, Tehama, Glenn, Lake, Trinity, Humboldt, Del Norte and Mendocino. In addition, the successful contractor will be required to submit the following data upon completion of work and prior to contract closeout: (a) Number of workers employed on the contract including managers, supervisors and support; (b) Number of days these workers worked on the contract (total based on an 8-hour workday); (c) Total amount of wages and benefits paid to these workers; (d) Number of workers, if any, considered being displaced timber workers. Due to the requirements of threatened aquatic and wildlife species, a limited operating season will be required. Unless agreed otherwise, no workshall be performed on this project between October 15 and July 9. Estimated start date July 11, 2005. Recommended contract time 85 days. Price range is $100,000 to $250,000.
