LBL anticipates awarding a contract for the following: historic restoration and renovation services to repair 11 log buildings located at The Homeplace – A Living History Farm, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area. These buildings include the single pen house, horse barn, tool barn, ox barn, hog pen, chicken pen, corn/carriage crib, field crib, wood shed, spring house, and garden shed. The selected contractor shall provide all historic skilled workmanship (labor) and supervision, equipment, historic-period materials (e.g., hinges, door locks, etc.), travel expenses and incidental supplies necessary to restore the historic structures identified in this contract. Modern tools may be used in the restoration process resulting in historically accurate designs and products authentic to the 1850s period. Restoration repairs to the buildings may include, but are not limited to: pouring concrete footers (pads) below ground; increasing foundation heights; repairing/replacing roofs; installing copper flashing on roofs; replacing or consolidating logs and other woodwork; replacing chinking and daubing; waterproofing buildings; and improving drainage.The solicitation package is expected to be available for release on August 19, 2003. A site visit has been scheduled for August 28, 2003 at 9:00 am in the administration building conference room. Proposals are expected to be due September 19, 2003. This work will be performed during the period of September 25, 2003 through February 15, 2004.
