The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center San Diego, Port Hueneme Site, intends to award a sole source procurement to Symmetricom, San Jose, CA, under the authority of the Simplified Acquisition Procedures, as implemented by
Section 4202 of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 - a sole source acquisition under the authority of the test program for certain commercial items, as implemented by FAR 13.501(a). This requirement is for Xli SAASM GBGRAM 1U GPS receivers which are a direct replacement of Symmetricom TrueTime Mark V GPS receivers, required to maintain current levels of operations and maintenance of the Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) constellation and associated ground systems, including the Navy Satellite Control Network (NSCN) and the Integrated Satellite Control System (ISCS) at Naval Satellite Operations Center (NAVSOC), its detachment, and remote satellite tracking stations to meet mission requirements.
Xli SAASM GBGRAM 1U GPS has been designed to be used only by DOD due to the unique military and national security charactertics requirement. Symmetricom has the proprietary rights on the Engineering Drawing and Specifications for the Xli SAASM GBGRAM 1U GPS receiver. Any other GPS receiver would not be compatible with the existing hardware and software. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to meet the Governmentââ¬â¢s requirement. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
