The Kortes Road project is a minor widening/reconstruction, resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation (3R+) project in Natrona County, WY (approximately 30 miles west of Casper, WY). The proposed route is 7 miles long, generally extending from the intersection with Natrona County Road 408 northeast to Alcova, WY. The route is used primarily as recreational access to Alcova Reservoir and Pathfinder Reservoir, as well as the Miracle Mile along the North Platte River. The existing pavement is fatigued and nearing the end of its serviceable life. The county owns and maintains Kortes Road.
General scope of improvement is to pulverize the existing section and place a 3-inch HACP section on the reclaimed 6 inches of pulverized existing material, raising the vertical profile of the road by 3 inches for the entire 7-mile corridor and minor shoulder widening (1-foot paved). Proposed improvements also include minor alignment and grade changes, signing and striping enhancements, drainage improvements, and other safety improvements.
