Woody Species management in designated areas of Training Areas 51, 52, and 53 on Fort Hood, Texas. Work shall consist of treating approximately 1529 acres by treatment methods outlines in the Statement of Work. Ashe Juniper trees smaller than 5 inches at basal diameter will be cut and mulched. Mesquite trees up to 5 inches in basal diameter will be cut and sprayed in accordance with the cut stump treatment method of the remedy label. All slash will be mulched, and spread into piles no thicker than two inches. Mulch will be no larger than 2 inches by four inches. The herbicide mixture will be applied immediately after cutting with a sprayer on the root collar area, sides of the stump, and the outer portion of the cut surface, including cambium, until thoroughly wet, but not to the point of runoff. The spray application will be applied by teh individual plant treatment (IPT) method with a mixture of 25% Remedy Ultra (EPA Reg. No 62719-552) (no substitutions will be permitted) in diesel fuel oil with a dye.
Pre-porposal Site Visit shall be held from 0900 - 1200 at the fort Hood Project Office, 105 Memorial Drive, Gatesville, TX on 31 July 2012. Attendance is encouraged, but not required to submit a proposal.
