The White Mountain Apache Tribe Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) Project is intended to address a public health emergency whereby the rate of RMSF on the Reservation is at epidemic proportions. In January 2013 the Tribe formally requested emergency funding from the Indian Health Service for RMSF prevention. The Tribe has extensive knowledge and experience to coordinate a community based RMSF prevention program with a focus on animal and tick control measures. Indian Health Service will enter in a sole source contract with the White Mountain Apache Tribe for this project.
