USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Phoenix Rearing Facility (PRF) seeks a three-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract for the delivery of wheat bran and wheat germ.
PRF uses wheat bran and germ in the production of diet (feed) for the mass production of insects in support of the Navel Orangeworm (NOW) Program. Wheat bran and germ are staple ingredients in the current diet recipes for mass insect production.
This requirement shall be for four truckloads of 50-lb bags of bran per year. A truckload is assumed to be 24 pallets of 50-lb bags, stacked 24 bags per pallet, for a net weight of approximately 28,800 lbs. Up to 30 such pallets on a truck is acceptable, as are differently stacked pallets, but such variations shall not alter the total bran requirement in a year.
Wheat germ is also required. PRF needs 24 50-lb bags with a net weight of 1,200 lbs. Up to two pallets would be needed for the total wheat germ requirement for each year.
The NAICS code for this procurement is 311211 Flour Milling, with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. The solicitation shall be posted here on an unrestricted basis no later than 01/13/2023.
