The 3rd Contracting Squadron, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska intends to award a sole source purchase order to Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. of Tucson, AZ as a result of Ventana Medical Systems providing the only combined product of a Ventana Benchmark XT and NexES Special Stainer to diagnose cancers, infections and other pathologic diseases found in the patient tissue samples. Please refer to the attached J&A for detailed information.

This purchase will be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other Than Full and Open Competition as authorized by FAR 13.501. The anticipated award date is 17 February 2010. Please note that this is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all interested parties who believe they can meet the requirements are invited to submit in writing complete information describing their ability to provide the product/services listed above. Deadline date for the submittals is 16 February 2010 at 4:00 pm Alaska Standard Time.

A determination by the government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
