The George P. Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center of the Department of State is the federal governmentâs primary training facility for personnel of the foreign affairsâ community. The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is the Department bureau that provides training for employees of the Department of State and other agencies at the Shultz Center. The Institute is comprised of a number of schools/centers that include the School of Professional and Area Studies, the School of Language Studies, the School of Applied Information Technology, and the Transition Center (TC).
The Transition Center provides information, training, counseling and referral services to U.S. Government foreign affairs employees and their families who are preparing for an overseas assignment, retuning to the United States, or who are preparing for retirement. The Transition Centerâs Training Division currently requires the services of a qualified and experienced contractor to facilitate and present MQ 802 Communicating Across Cultures a one-day course held three times during the year. Scheduled dates include weekday and Saturday offerings.
The overall aim of the course is to give a hands-on experience in adjusting to variations in cultural values and communication found in overseas life and work.
