The United States Army Medical Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to award a sole source firm fixed price contract to The Jackson Laboratory for services to to provide the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) with Type I interferon alpha/beta receptor knockout mice (IFNAR-/- mice) for filovirus research. This contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.5, 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), and FAR 6.302-1 Only One Responsible Source. The determination is made based on the fact that The Jackson Laboratory is the sole commercial vendor capable of providing Type I interferon alpha/beta receptor knockout mice.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotation; however, all responses received within seven days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no written responses are received fifteen (15) days after the publication of this response, the purchase will be awarded without further notice.
