Car Track Equipment Maintenance, Rail Fleet seeks to purchase Two (2) turbochargers for critical spares for repair of Caterpillar C15 and Caterpillar C13 Engines mounted in Metro Prime Mover and Tamper fleets. Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) owns and operates a fleet of Prime Movers having Caterpillar C15 engines and a fleet of tampers having Caterpillar C13 engines as their main power plants. Car Track Equipment Maintenance, Rail Fleet currently has no spare turbo chargers meeting the specifications for their replacement. Without turbo chargers in WMATA stock, a single turbo failure in any of these work vehicles could cause substantial interruption of planned work and potential increased costs due to unavailable equipment. The Prime Movers and Tampers are essential to Track and Structures Rail Infrastructure State of Good Repair.
