The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service (ARS) intends to award a one year purchase order for a TruSeq SBS Kit, TruSeq PE Cluster, and a TruSeq DNA Sample Prep Kit to Illumina Inc., on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR Part 6.302-1. The NAICS code for this procurement is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing.
 

Illumina Inc. is the only known provider for the TruSeq SBS Kit, TruSeq PE Cluster, and a TruSeq DNA Sample Prep Kit, and the sole manufacturer and owner of patented technology contained within certain parts and processes used by this product. Illumina Inc. is the only known company that can provide maintenance on these instruments.

This notice of intent is for informational purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. This notice is not a request for competitive quotations. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. Any firm that believes it can provide the services listed above may submit substantiating documentation in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:00 pm Eastern Time, August 24, 2012. The successful company must be registered in the System for Award Management Database (SAM) and also the Online Representations and Certification (ORCA) at http://orca.bpn.gov. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. A determination not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely at the discretion of the Government.
