This is a notice of intent to award a sole-source purchase order and is not a request for competitive proposals. The National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS) intends to solicit and enter into a contract with Illumina, Inc., 9885 Towne Center Drive, San Diego, CA 92121-1975 Genome Analyzer System HiSeq 2000 a HiSwq2500 the Illumina sequencing platforms. This vendor is the only manufacturer of the sequencer and associated modules and is the only source for reagents that are compatible with the DNA sequencing platforms in the genomic sequencing laboratory. No other products will work on the instruments in the genomic sequencing laboratory.

The Government intends to solicit, negotiate and award to only one contractor using other than full and open competition procedures pursuant to the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The NAICS code for this acquisition is 334516 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. Award will be made using Simplified Acquisition Procedures found in FAR Part 13
