GDI has created an environment to promote active collaboration with federal agencies, working together to bring forward needed innovations, support small businesses and grow jobs. This is achieved using two key strategies:

•·         Facilitating relationships between the Department of Defense (DOD), local communities and small businesses

•·         Educating stakeholders about the challenges facing the Warfighter, the innovations being developed in U.S. companies, and the federal funding and assistance programs available to support the commercialization of needed technologies.

The combination of these strategies supports the development of companies who participate in the annual TRIAD (Technology Requirements & Innovation Awareness Days) event in Ohio. TRIAD teaches attendees how to identify and pursue opportunities within the federal funding system.

Attending companies and supporting organizations will learn about what the DoD wants, how to get the attention of buyers and decision makers, and who can help them secure contracts. In addition, 50 companies will have the chance to pitch their innovations directly to science and technology scouts from the U.S. Combatant Commands, and those with emerging technology will get a chance to present their innovations during a Showcase Networking Event. During this event, we will be creating a space where representatives from the Department of Defense (DoD) can get to know innovative companies with great technology and work together to solve major challenges for the U.S. Warfighter.

Last year, participating companies connected with more than 20 different military and government representatives, leading to more than 350 valuable introductions. Those companies have cumulatively received nearly $2 million in funding to date!
