This is a new requirement where a technologist will go to different sporting events and if an athlete is identified to have head trauma (concussion) he/she will place the transcranial doppler on their head and take a reading with specialized software. The nurse will then download the event back at the USAISR/BAMC and once they have the required number of samples they will send the data in to be analyzed and look for trends.
Additionally, they will compare their data against the outcome of the patient data meaning just because they might be suspected of a concussion does not mean they have one and vice versa. This data will then eventually be used to monitor soldiers on the battlefield when they are subjected to possible head trauma.
See PWS for additional requirements.
