The purpose and intent of this contract is to secure services for brushing or log out of approximately 57 km of trails in Wilderness and non-Wilderness areas listed in the Project Schedule and as shown on the attached maps. Trails to be maintained are located on the Skykomish Ranger District of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. See attached Detailed Trail Information Sheets and Project Area Maps for specific locations.

This project will maintain existing trails. Trails to be logged out and brushed are generally located in old growth forests, with logs to be removed ranging from 100 mm in diameter up to 1200 mm in diameter. The size, quantity, and difficulty of removal of logs vary from trail to trail. Brush varies by trail but typically includes huckleberry, salmonberry, small trees and branches, and herbaceous vegetation.

This contract includes a base item for year 2011 services, which will be awarded initially, and renewal options to award for services to be rendered in years 2012, and 2013.

For each calendar year estimated start work date would be June 15, with all work items completed by September 15 or earlier, in accordance with the completion dates for each trail as listed on the Detailed Trail Information Sheets.
