SLAC seeks vendors that can provide the following for LCLS/L2S-I Project.

LCLS is building a set of 3 new X-ray beamlines to take the advantage of LCLS-II upgrade.  The TMO beamline will support many experimental techniques not currently available at LCLS.  Stable X-ray beam trajectories and focused beam will be provided to the fixed interaction points.  A hexapod solution is proposed to precisely position the 2 different end stations that could be installed alternatively at the same first interaction point of the beamline.  Thus ,2 similar units will be required.

The hexapod will be installed vertically and support experimental chambers with a maximum weight of 800kg.

The main rotation and interaction point of the hexapod is roughly 1.45m off the floor.

All motions of the experimental stations will be done relatively to this interaction point.

The equipment will need high precision and stiffness.

The Hexapod should not be more than 800mm high to provide space for the endstation experimental chambers they will support.

The  attached table describes SLAC's  preferred specifications with cumulative displacements as well as  image of the coordinate system.

The hexapod will have to be installed in a determined environment that imposes space constrains. Each of the 2 hexapods will be equipped with devices such as jacked wheels, or air casters that with allow for a quick exchange of one endstation for the other.  All the controls and necessary software interface will be provided to allow rotations and XYZ displacements relatively to the given interaction point.

THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE  BUT A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY SEEKING QUALIFIED VENDORS THAT CAN SUPPLY THE ITEM REQUIRED.  VENDORS INTERESTED IN BEING CONSIDERED AS A POTENTIAL SOURCE SHOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS AN "INTERESTED PARTY" VIA THE FBO PORTAL.  A FORMAL REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) WILL BE PROVIDED IF YOUR COMPANY IS DETERMINED QUALIFIED TO RECEIVE A RFP.
