This market survey announcement is issued in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acquisition Management System (AMS) Policy section 3.2.1.2.1 Market Analysis. The purpose of this Market Survey/Request for Information (RFI) is to solicit capabilities from interested vendors. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a need to validate current tire failure models or develop new tire failure models that can be used to standardize tire threats for certification of new tires on transport airplanes.
In this research effort, the contractor will perform the following tests on transport category airplane tires:
ââ¬Â¢ thrown tread tire tests;
ââ¬Â¢ flailing strip tire tests;
ââ¬Â¢ burst plume testing.
Tests should be conducted on both radial ply and bias ply tires.
The FAA is conducting this market survey to determine industry interest and capabilities to perform the scope of work contained within the attached Statement of Work (SOW). The acquisition strategy for this procurement has not been determined at this time. The results of this market survey will determine the final acquisition strategy. The FAA may decide to do a full and open competition or set aside all or part of this procurement for small businesses, disabled veteran-owned small businesses or eligible socially and economically disadvantaged businesses that are certified by the SBA for participation in the SBA's 8(a) Program.
Interested vendors should respond with a Capabilities Statement. This document should address your companyââ¬â¢s capability/experience to perform the task requirements defined with the Statement of Work (SOW) dated Feb 25, 2016. Address clearly and concisely how your company will support this anticipated contract. Any relevant current or previous corporate experience should be included within this statement. Previous experience should be limited to the last five years. Total page limitation for the capability statement is three pages ââ¬â font size 10, one-inch margins, single spaced.
The North American Industry Classification System code associated with this request is 541712 - Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences - Aircraft. This NAICS has a small business size standard of 1,000 employees.
