WMATA shall provide SmarTrip cards; a web-based system to enter monthly fare amount(s) to the card with the ability to allow employees to utilize other surrounding transit systems including Metrorail, Metrobus, regional commuter busses, van pools, Amtrak, and local commuter trains affiliated with WMATA. Smart Benefits are the only form of fare media accepted by the District of Columbia METRO system and all other public transportation providers in the Washington, D.C. area. The SmartBenefits program allows OPIC to manage and fund transit benefits for participants. WMATA does not charge a fee for the use of its SmartBenefits program.
