The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Fisher Scientific, 4500 Turnberry Drive, Hanover Park, Il 60133, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This purchase is for the following: 1)-(1 each)- Thermo Sorvall LYNX6000; Catalog #75006590/QTE288; 2-(1 each)- F9-6X1000 LEX FIBERLITE, Catalog #096-061075/QTE; 3)- (3 each)- 5 X 50 ML Concical Adapters 2 PK, Catalog #010-018/QTE288; 4)-(2 each)- 12 X 15ML Conical Adapters 2 PK, Catalog #010-1079/QTE288. This instrument is needed to precipitate particulate matter from large volume suspensions of biological materials and to fractionate biological samples into their different components; thus the centrifuge must be a high-capacity centrifuge. To preserve the integrity of the samples, the centrifuge needs to keep samples cool, and samples need to be processed quickly; for the latter point, this means the centrifuge needs to operate at high speed. The Sorvall Lynx6000 and accompanying rotor will replace our current Sorvall centrifuge and rotors (which need to be replaced for irreparable safety reasons), thus smoothly integrating into our current workflow and allowing us to continue our research. The Thermo Sorvall Centrifuge offers: carbon fiber rotors that are used by the Sorvall Lynx centrifuge because they provide better corrosion and metal fatigue resistance for improved safety and greater centrifuge longevity, lower weight for ergonomics, and higher relative centrifuge force; a built-in integrator to provide exact run-to run reproducibility; is ergonomically optimized for all operators; it allows space for feet to be placed under the front of the unit to allow the user to stand closer to the instrument for easier lifting of rotors in and out of the unit; offers the smart vacuum system which is a requirement for request; a sleep mode feature and imbalance tolerant drive tolerating up to 5% of opposing loads. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated below. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Advanced Analytical. The NAICS Code/Size is 423490/500 EMP. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000. There is no solicitation package available. For any questions regarding this announcement, please contact Valarie K. Sims via email [email protected].*****
