The U. S. Geological Survey, Central Region, Geospatial Information Office, National Spatial Data Infrastructure, Kansas Office (USGS), located at 4821 Quail Crest Place, Lawrence, Kansas 66049-3839, has a requirement to update the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) database for 98 counties in the State of Kansas. The project deliverables will be new name records with their accompanying attribute data submitted by email, a file transfer plan (ftp) site, or using an online GNIS submittal form accessible through the internet. All data and deliverables will be free from restriction regarding use and distribution. All acquired data may be used in The National Map. Based on information available, and in accordance with 41 USC 253 (c) (1) and as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 (b) (1) (i), the USGS considers this requirement to be a sole source to the University of Alabama, Department of Geography, Placenames Research Center, with offices located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered.
