The U.S Department of Education, Federal Student Aid (FSA) has a need for additional security tokens. Symantec Validation & ID Protection (VIP) Security Token is an online security credential that adds an extra layer of identity protection when accessing the FSA network holding Personally Identifiable Information. An additional 15,000 new hardware tokens are required to use as replacements for existing tokens due to the age and defects of the original tokens. These tokens provide a unique identifier known only by FSA authentication services and the registered user. This unique identifier provides an additional level of security (two-factor authentication) in verifying user identity when accessing FSA systems holding Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
