The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) intends to issue an award on a brand name basis that will result in the purchase of Symantec Netbackup Application licenses and maintenance support.
Network Management currently uses the Symantec Netbackup application to perform daily backups of data on the OPM Network, including servers and workstations. The Netbackup application allows the NM to continue to provide consistent daily backups of data in support of OPM daily operations and OPM's COOP.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 511210. This requirement is conducted in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 16.505, Ordering. The authority for this award is FAR 16.505(b)(2)(ii)(A). For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold, contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS NOTICE IS TO SATISFY THE REQUIREMENTS OF FAR SUBPART 5.2. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS.
However, all responsible parties interested in this procurement must submit a capability statement within 2 calendar days from the date of this notice. Submissions after that date will not be considered. Interested parties wishing to submit their questions, interest, and capabilities must do so in writing via email. Oral and facsimile requests for information will be considered non-responsive. Verification of receipt of electronic transmission is the sole responsibility of the contractor. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government. All OPM contractors are required to register in the System Award Management (SAM) database prior to execution of award. If no competitive responses are received, an brand name award will be made to a small business authorized reseller of Symantec Netbackup.
