Renovation of significant portions of the Ground Floor and First Floor of Sykes Student Union, and addition of a new bridge across the lower level entry and pergolas at both existing outdoor terraces. Reconfigured Ground Floor space will consist of a new café, relocated large meeting room, reconfigured continuous lounge, associated rest rooms and storage, and a small printing/computer area. The First Floor Ram’s Head Dining Serveries and Dining Room will be radically reconfigured to create a modern dining facility with a broad array of food options, with suitable circulation for patrons around a continuous set of venues. The Information Desk will be relocated, the existing Java City removed, and the Administration offices will be enhanced with new space taken form the corridor. Reconfigured space on both floors will, for the most part, receive new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services and all new finishes. The project will be built in summer 2017. Some areas have been identified for more restrictive timelines in order to preserve the University’s ability to use the building, albeit at a significantly reduced level, in summer 2017.
