FIBERGLASS DOORS AND FRAMESPART 1 GENERAL1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of furnishing anddelevering fiberglass doors and frames for exterior door openings.1.2 MATERIAL A. Shop Drawings: Show elevations and details of each door and frametype, including jamb anchors, cutouts, reinforcements, and joints.B. Manufacturer's catalog cuts and installation recommendations. 1.4 PRODUCT HANDLING:A. Delivery: Ship doors and frames in cartons or crates.B. Storage: Store doors and frames under cover on raised supports.1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS: Check actual frame openings by accurate fieldmeasurement before fabrication.1.6 WARRANTY: Submit written agreement on door manufacturer's standard formsigned by manufacturer, installer, and contractor agreeing to repair or replacedefective door and frame.1.7 IMPACT RESISTANCE: Doors shall be coastal zone impact rated based on ASTME1886 and E1996.PART 2 PRODUCTS2.1 GENERAL: Manufacture doors, frames, and accessories conforming to SDIrequirements equivalent to 16-gauge steel doors and frames. Manufacturer shallbe Chem Pruf or equal.2.2 FRAMES:A. Construction: One piece pultruded fiberglass reinforced plastic,minimum 1/4 inch wall thickness, jamb to head joints mitered andreinforced with FRP clips and stainless steel fasteners; conformingto SDI requirements for performance equivalent to 16-gauge steelframes B. Frame profile: 5 3/4 inches deep, 2 inches wide face; doublerabbeted with 5/8 inch high stop.C. Finish: Satin finish. 2.3 DOORS:A. Construction:1. Core: Phenolic impregnated resin honeycomb.2. Door Plates: Molded in one continuous piece, resin reinforcedwith hand laid glass fiber mat, nominal 1/8 inch thick,minimum 15 mil gel coated surface.3. Door Edges: Minimum three layers resin reinforced glass fibermat, nominal 3/8 inch thick, machine tooled.B. Finish: Satin finish. 2.4 FABRICATION:A. Minimum Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Doors:1. Minimum glass fiber to resin ratio: 30 percent2. Mortise for lockset and recess for strike plate in lockstile.3.
