The Superior National Forest is advertising for the commercial portage operations at Prairie Portage. Work includes providing assistance to people transporting watercraft and gear across the portages for a fee. The minimum annual fee to the Forest Service shall be three percent (3%) of gross annual receipts for the current year. The fee to the Forest Service may be offset through the completion of projects in accordance with the Grainger-Thye Act. The contract period includes one base year and four optional years. Site Name: Prairie Portage

Approximately 20 miles northeast of Ely, Prairie portage is located between Sucker Lake and Basswood Lake in Section 2, Township 64 North, Range 9 West, located in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), Lake County, MN.

The Contractor must comply with Section 9002 of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (FSRIA), Executive Order (EO) 13423, "Strengthening Federal Environmental, Energy, and Transportation Management," and the Federal Acquisition Regulation to provide biobased products. The Contractor shall utilize products and materials made from biobased materials (e.g. biobased oils, biobased lubricants, biobased tableware, biobased wastewater systems coatings, etc.) to the maximum extent possible without jeopardizing the intended end use or detracting from the overall quality delivered to the end user.
