The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Environmental Health intends to award a sole source firm-fixed price contract to Auburn University College of Sciences and Mathematics, 249 Sciences Center Classroom, Auburn Alabama 36849.
The statutory authority for this sole source acquisition is U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1) in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1 only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements. The NAICS code for this procurement is 541715 Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences (except Nanotechnology and Biotechnology with size standard of 4,500 employees.
This sole source acquisition is required because Auburn University is the only entity that has developed a methodology for the degradation of fentanyl analogues to a common core structure which will serve as a signature for fentanyl analogues and if detected will confirm their presence in variety of samples. This method enables detection of previously unknown analogues of fentanyl in a rapid and efficient way without requiring expensive equipment, an internal standard or antibody for each analogue
