The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)
conducts and supports research on many of the most serious diseases affecting public
health. The Institute supports much of the clinical research on the diseases of internal
medicine and related subspecialty fields, as well as many basic science disciplines.
The Institute's Division of Intramural Research encompasses the broad spectrum of
Metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, inborn errors of metabolism, endocrine
disorders, mineral metabolism, digestive and liver diseases, nutrition, urology and renal
disease, and hematology. Basic research studies include biochemistry, biophysics,
nutrition, pathology, histochemistry, bioorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical
and molecular biology, and pharmacology.
The service contract shall for the period of 12 months from date of award.
Contractor will perform the following duties of the Chairperson of the Prevention of Lower Urinary tract Symptoms Consortium Steering Committee:
1. Convene conference calls of the Study Executive Committee 1-2 times per month. Each call is expected to last for approximately one hour.
2. Convene and run a meeting of the Steering Committee approximately every other week until all protocols are approved. Subsequent meetings will be one per month. Face to face meetings will last for a day and a half and be held every 2-3 months during first 2 years and every 3-4 months thereafter.
3. Review recruitment data and discuss recruitment and retention strategies with the Program Office.
4. Review the proceedings and recommendations from all subcommittees, and discuss further plans with subcommittee chairpersons and the Program Office.
5. Provide a leadership role in assisting the Steering Committee develop topics for
publications and assigning writing groups for publications.
6. Act as a spokesperson for the Prevention of Lower Urinary tract Symptoms Consortium at major national and international meetings, and will be called upon to represent and discuss the conduct of the trial by the press and other community organizations.
7. Represent the Prevention of Lower Urinary tract Symptoms Consortium at the meetings and conference calls of the External Experts Panel Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB). One or two face-to-face meeting and two to three conference calls are expected during the coming year.
The offeror must include a completed copy of the following provisions: 1) FAR Clause 52.212-1 Instructions to Offerors - Commercial items; 2) FAR Clause 52.212-2, Evaluation - Commercial Items. As stated in FAR Clause 52.212-2 (a) The Government will award a contract resulting from this solicitation to the responsible offeror whose offer conforming to the solicitation will be advantageous to the Government, price and other factors considered. The following factors will be used equally to evaluate offers: Technical Evaluation, Price, and Past Performance.
