The Tongass National Forest is developing a contract for the reconditioning of the Starrigavan Artesian Well, Sitka Ranger District, Stika, AK.

This notice is not a solicitation nor a request for proposals/technical information.  This notice is for conducting Market Research in identifying potential firms and defining their business categories.

The goal of the project is to recondition the Starrigavan Recreation Area water system source (artesian well) to increase the flow of water through the use of high pressure air/water to increase water flow. The well was drilled in 1993. Over the years the water flow has steadily decreased from 20-30 gallons per minute down to approximately 1 quart a minute.
 
The well provides treated water to camping residents, an alternative water source to many Sitka residents, and supports a commercial operator who collects the water for distribution.
