The Department of Transportation will retain an engineering firm for a multiple phase, multiple part, project specific – open end agreement to perform a feasibility study, preliminary engineering, final design, construction consultation, and other design services to rehabilitate or replace the Frazier Street Bridge (BMS No. 02-0376-0730-1965 / BRKEY No. 1157). This project is located in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County. The construction scope-of-work includes rehabilitation or replacement of the existing six-span structure which was built in 1951 and carries six lanes of Interstate 376 traffic over Frazier Street/Swinburne Street, Boundary Street, and two CSX Railroad tracks. The existing Frazier Street Bridge is both individually eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and is also a contributing element to the Parkway East. There is potential for implementing Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) techniques into this project.
