Description of Work: The Department will retain an engineering firm for a multiple phase, multiple part, Project Specific â Open End Agreement to provide Preliminary Engineering (PE), Final Design (FD) and Services During Construction (SDC) for the SR 0079 Section A60- I-79 Widening (Alpine Road to Bridgeville) and Bridgeville Interchange Improvements located in South Fayette Township and Bridgeville Borough, Allegheny County. Scope of work includes, but not limited to, widening of I-79 from Alpine Road to north of the Bridgeville Interchange, improvements to Bridgeville Interchange, and potentially a new interchange at Alpine Road. It is anticipated that PE/FD/SDC will be separated into multiple engineering parts as funding for the improvements become available. This engineering agreement is based off the S.R. 0079-A60 Feasibility Study Report which has already been completed and attached for reference in SharePoint (PPCC) under References/District 11/E04761- SR 0079 Section A60- Feasibility Report. The following are the anticipated portions of the Feasibility Study Report which are anticipated to be advanced into PE and FD: -I-79 Median Widening and Bridgeville Interchange (East) Concept 1C_2: I-79 widening within the median from Alpine Road to the Bridgeville Interchange and at a minimum we would first construct I-79 NB widening only and tie-in at the Bridgeville Interchange not requiring widening of the I-79 NB bridges. There are three ramp reconfigurations at the Bridgeville Interchange (East) and a new bridge over S.R. 0050 which is referred to as Bridgeville Concept 1C_2. I-79 SB widening within the median from north of the Bridgeville Interchange to Alpine Road, widening begins prior to the Bridgeville Interchange and includes widening of the existing I-79 SB bridges over Chartiers Creek/W&LE Railroad and S.R. 0050. Includes construction of a median wall in the I-79 bifurcated sections; however, if the SB widening is modified to tie-in to the beginning of the existing three lanes SB (truck climbing lane), then a median wall may not be required. -Bridgeville Interchange (West) Concept 5: This is the preferred Bridgeville Interchange West concept as it eliminates the S.R. 0050 westbound traffic from the congested I-79 SB drop lane loop off ramp (Ramp D) and creates a more efficient traffic signal along S.R. 0050 as lefts are prohibited from Ramp Concept 5 to S.R. 0050 east (towards Bridgeville) and lefts are prohibited from Ramp D to S.R. 0050 west. A new bridge over Chartiers Creek/W&LE Railroad is required as well as a retaining wall along Chartiers Creek. -Alpine Road Interchange Concept 2: This is the preferred Alpine Road Interchange concept. This interchange would be pursued if improvements are not able to be made to fully address the traffic issues within the Bridgeville Interchange. Alpine Road is relocated to create a signalized plus intersection with Boyce Road. A new bridge over I-79 is required
