The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of State Parks, Sinnemahoning State Park requires the removal of declining spruce plantations in the 40 Maples Day Use Area. This work is to restore a native floodplain community, adding habitat value, reducing operation conflicts created by declining spruce, and improving the aesthetics of the area. The removal specifications entail felling declining spruce and other conifer species, disposition of the forest material with the highest end use achievable for the salvaged forest growth, and restoration of the site as necessary to establish the specified seed mix. Refer to attachments for specifics.
