The Eglin AFB Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) had been treating a patients with neuropathic pain of the lumbar and thoracic region using an Illumina 3D programming algorithm and MICC (multiple independent current control) offered by Boston Scientific. This will allow patients to be more functional and take less pain medications for back pain. Recovery is extremely quick, no sutures are needed. With Illumina 3D and MICC, stimulation can be moved and shaped across the spinal cord area in order to find the right pain target while decreasing unwanted or unnecessary stimulation. Boston Scientific achieves this by moving the stimulation field in 1 % increments or a hairs width to fine tune and capture the appropriate pain target.
