In accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), the Government intends to solicit a brand name only solicitation for Spectra Optia Apheresis System.  The Department of Nephrology at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) is looking to expand the department's program by providing additional treatment options for their patients.  Although there are a wide variety of commercially available centrifuges, including blood bank centrifuges, ultra-centrifuges, high-speed centrifuges, etc., the Spectra Optia Apheresis system is the only system that provides the operators the ability to perform a wide variety of apheresis procedures on the single platform.  Additionally, the Spectra Optia Apheresis system is used throughout other departments at TAMC.  The ability to use existing government-owned peripheral products (that are designed to interface with the Spectra Optia Apheresis System) provide additional access to treatment options and decrease risk for infection.
