Dr. Ruth Welt at Kansas State University Kansas have developed various lipidomic approaches for lipid profiling analysis of plant samples for her own research. The Kansas Lipidomics Research Center (KLRC) was established based on her research work and her Research Instrumentation grants funded by various funding agents to provide lipid profiling services for the plant research communities. The specific protocols and mass spectrometric technologies established at the KLRC are for comprehensively and quantitatively analyzing lipid molecular species in plant samples, especially for profiling lipid changes under various abiotic stressed conditions. The minimal criteria for MS lipid analysis are: 1) able to separate, identify and quantify each major polar lipid species within each sample; 2) able to separate and quantify lipid molecular species within each major lipid species, with a minimal of 130+ lipid molecular species being analyzed for each of the 1164 plant samples; 3) provide the amount as well as the molar ratio for each of the lipid molecular species, as well as the average and standard derivation within the replicate samples.
Delivery will be made to the USDA, ARS, PA, Cropping Systems Research Laboratory (CPRL), 3810 4th Street, Lubbock, TX 79415.
