INVITATION TO BID – SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY UP-451: Ash Silo and Related Equipment Replacement Slippery Rock University of the PA State System of Higher Education invites General and Electrical Contractors to download bid documents for this project. Work included under this Project at Slippery Rock University consists of the replacement of ash handling equipment located adjacent to and serving the Central Heating Plant of the Slippery Rock University upper campus. Work includes the replacement of the ash silo, ash conditioner, ash separators, dump box, and miscellaneous components associated with the ash handling equipment. Work includes the removal of all utilities servicing the existing equipment and replacement with new utilities associated with the new equipment. Modifications of the existing support structure includes removal and replacement of framing as needed for the support of the new equipment. The existing elevated enclosure modifications include the removal of existing enclosure and replacement with new insulated components. Enclosure modifications also include the replacement of the space heater, lighting, and electrical components. Work also includes the replacement of the existing catwalk, providing access from the heating plant roof to the silo, with a new catwalk, and lighting upgrades for the upper platform. Contractor shall provide all materials, labor, and testing necessary for a fully operational and commissioned system. Work for the Project shall be accomplished by Separate Prime Contractors according to Pennsylvania statute. The Lead Prime Contractor shall be the General (.1) Contractor. Specific instructions for coordination and responsibilities of the Lead Prime Contractor are contained in Section 0131000, Project Management and Coordination, and elsewhere throughout the Contract Documents. Work included in each Separate Prime Contract shall include General Construction and Electrical Construction as contained in Section 011000 Summary and shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the furnishing of all labor, superintendence, materials, tools and equipment and performing all work necessary to complete all construction identified on the Contract Documents to the satisfaction of, and subject to approval of the Professional and the University. A Non-mandatory Pre-bid conference, with site visit to follow, will be held on May 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Weisenfluh Dining Hall, Room 104 which is located at 200 Campus Drive on the campus of Slippery Rock University located in Slippery Rock, PA 16057. The Pre-Bid Conference is not mandatory but highly recommended. Due to campus restrictions, only one representative from each company should attend the pre-bid meeting, mask and social distancing is required while on campus.
