The intent of this contract is to secure services for the mastication of overstocked conifer trees, down woody material and competing vegetation. The end result will be open pine plantation with reduced competing vegetation and downed woody material with a stocking of 90 to 130 crop trees per acre. In addition there will be scattered leave clumps and varied spacing and retention of large logs and large snags. There is one base item which consist of 75 acres with 61 work days. There are also 4 option items that consist of 500 acres each. The project is located on the Tahoe National Forest, Sierraville Ranger District. Estimated starting date is approximately September 1, 2008. Solicitation package will be uploaded approximately July 15, 2008 and a bid closing date of approximately August 14, 2008.
