The work to be performed consists, in general, of the rehabilitation of the existing sewer main by means of cleaning the PVC lined reinforced concrete sewer pipe (T-Lock RCP) to eliminate sedimentation, crust buildup, and other obstructions in the pipeline. The work shall include sewer cleaning methods such as hydro-jetting and hydraulic bucket cleaning (if needed), post cleaning videoing, post cleaning and other methodologies needed (that do not damage the PVC liner in the pipe) to provide full capacity functionality. The project also includes the process of drying the material removed from the sewer line and transporting it to the designated County's Bena Landfill (which is located at 2951 Neumarkel Road, Bakersfield, CA 93307) for disposal This project is being rebid and is a part of the former project. The original project has been divided into two phases for budget purposes. This project consists only of Phase 1. Phase 2 is NOT included in this project. The limits of this work are denoted on the plans as "PHASE 1" and run from Station 166+04.06 to Station 280+38.23. The contractor is responsible for submitting a sewer bypass system plan to the City of Bakersfield for approval. The contractor may plug the Splitter Structure (see page 7 of the project plans) to divert flow to the east in the White Lane sewer line; however, the means and methods to accomplish this sewer bypass operation will be the sole responsibility of the contractor. Other by-pass system methodology throughout the project limits shall be submitted by the contractor for approval prior to beginning work. During the bidding of this project, contractors who have questions or desire clarifications about the bid documents, must submit those questions or requests for clarifications in writing using the form provided in the bid documents. Said questions and requests for clarifications must be sbmitted by the date identified in the Request for Information (RFI) form and in these Special Provisions.
