Title: Service Maintenance Agreement for FacsCaliburs, FacsSorts and LSRII Lab Equipment

NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announces its intention to negotiate a sole source follow-on award with BD Bioscience. The CDC Agency utilizes the aforementioned laboratory equipment, manufactured by BD Bioscience, to generate valuable analytical data for HIV prevention reseach studies. Purchase of the service agreement will provide routine preventive maintenance to avoid future, catastrophic damage to equipment and high repair costs and/or replacement hassles. Any major repair to the equipment will slow productivity. Therefore, purchasing this service agreement will save time and money.

CDC intends to negotiate this requirement with BD Biosciences under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, and 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested parties who believe they possess the capabilities to satisfy this requirement should submit a capability statement demonstrating their abilities to meet this requirement. All responses should be received by the February 22, 2013, at 12 Noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST).
