THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE-SOURCE PURCHASE ORDER AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES.

The Plant Sciences Institute (PSI) at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC), Agricultural Research Services (ARS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) intends to issue a sole source, fixed price purchase order with a base and three consecutive option periods in accordance with FAR Part 13.106 under simplified acquisition procedures to Illumina, Inc. located in San Diego, CA for the following; Service Contract (Basic coverage) for the Illumina iScan instrument S/N N0245R. The proposed award is being issued under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 (b)(i), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
PSI requires basic service coverage for the following scientific instrument; iScan S/N N0245R Part Number SV-102-1002 manufactured and sold exclusively by Illumina, Inc. The iScan instrument is used by PSI to perform genetic single nucleotide polymorphism analysis in support of on-going research. To the best of our knowledge, no other vendor is certified to perform the required maintenance, repairs and updates on Illumina instruments.

The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is- 811219; small business size standard is $6.5 million.

The government will consider all responsible sources received by the due date. Written responses must contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona-fide capability to fulfill the requirement. If no written responses are received, a purchase order will be issued without further notice.
