DESCRIPTION: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 6.302-1, with Applied Biosystems, LLC, of Foster City, California, for Service Agreement for 3130XL Genetic Analyzer currently being used by the Material Measurement Laboratory Division at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland.

*****The Sole Source determination is based on Applied Biosystems, LLC being the original equipment manufacturer of the 3130XL Genetic Analyzer, capable in providing maintenance service, in accordance with the original equipment specifications. Applied Biosystems, LLC is the only authorized vendor capable in providing the required maintenance service.

*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219, and the size standard is $19M.

*****NO solicitation package will be issued. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however, interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. Inquires will only be accepted via email to [email protected]. The government will consider responses received by 12:00 p.m., EST, 8/8/2011. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition base on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. In the absence of responses NIST proposes to negotiate with Applied Biosystems, LLC on a sole source basis. No telephone requests will be honored.
