The Senior Malaria Advisor will serve as the focal point within the Ministry of Health of Angola (MOH) for USAID’s malaria activities. The Advisor’s primary responsibility will be to assist the USAID/Angola Mission to oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the health development activities as well as to liaise with USAID/Washington, counterparts in CDC Angola and Atlanta, and USAID personnel generally overseeing the Mission's activities related to malaria control. Responsibilities also include regular contact and collaboration with the counterparts in Angola's National Malaria Control Program and other government ministries and agencies, as well as with a wide range of civil society and private organizations, other donors and international organizations, and further United States Government (USG) entities working in malaria prevention and control. The Advisor shall exercise extensive judgment in planning and carrying out tasks, in resolving problems and conflicts, and in taking steps necessary to meet deadlines. The incumbent will be responsible for providing managerial and technical support to the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) Director and his staff and helping to build capacity within the NMCP.
