Notice is hereby given that the Village of Westmont will accept proposals from qualified firms to prepare a selection process for Fire Department Promotions and a proposal to begin hiring full time entry level candidates. Completed individual proposals for each service request should be submitted by 4pm Tuesday, December 20, 2022. INTRODUCTION The Village of Westmont has a residential population of 24,677; 10,485 households with over 600 businesses, and is located in the western suburbs of Chicago. At this time the Village seeks to award a contract for promotional selection services and a contract for selection of full-time entry level candidates for the Westmont Fire Department. The Westmont Fire Department, an accredited CFAI agency with a Class I ISO rating, provides fire and emergency medical services for all of Westmont as well as portions of unincorporated DuPage County. The Fire Department provides emergency response for approximately 8.5 square miles, which has more than 26,000 DuPage County citizens. In addition, Westmont Fire Department provides mutual aid services for several of our surrounding communities. Objective: Currently, the Fire Department is a combination firefighter team, with a full-time Fire Chief and a full-time administrative Deputy Chief. To prepare for the possibility of transitioning to more of a full-time department in the future, a full-time Deputy Chief able to perform all firefighting duties is seen as the first step. The second step to consider is creating the ability to hire full-time candidates. The Village of Westmont Fire & Police Commission has previously only provided hiring services to the Westmont Police Department. The Village of Westmont is seeking proposals that will assist and allow for our Commission to advance hiring candidates into our fire service. At this time, the Village of Westmont is seeking proposals for promotional selection steps of a full-time Deputy Chief and proposals for selection of all other positions.
