1. 22019AMLBAML (APRIL MURPHY DRAINAGE) HIGH PRIORITY AML RECLAMATION PROJECT FLOYD COUNTY PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The April Murphy site is located at 17 Shepallen Road in Hueysville, KY, 41640. April's drainage problem is located at coordinates Lat 3729' 30.3678", Long 8251'28.5948". On July 3, 2022 water and mud from the area above April's residence ran into the carport and the kitchen. The drainage area is approximately 0.26 square mile. April has cleaned up the kitchen and is concerned about the water and mud returning when it rains again. Also, she has done some work behind her house by digging a ditch to drain the water into a pipe which takes the water to the creek. To address this concern, the drainage area will have the material removed. A 100 foot reinforced concrete wall with 12 foot stems will be constructed. A sub drain installed in front of the wall and a ditch behind the wall to take the threat of more water and mud going into the carport and the house. All excavated earthen material will be placed on April's property (as shown on the plan view). Replacing the existing pipe going from the side of April's carport to the creek with a 36 inch pipe with a concrete head wall. Placing a vehicle grate with a concrete ditch over the existing ditch, in front of the gate, entering Randolph Allen's property. Where trucks can drive over the grate. On Randolph Allen's property we will be constructing two, 215 foot long sub drains across the existing benches to direct the water to a 36 in. pipe. The pipe will direct the water into the concrete headwall and to the creek. Also, including class II rock to be used to stabilize the area on Randolph Allen's property above the gate. The cost estimate for this work includes plan quantity for the earthwork and additional items for site prep, revegetation, and black top for the county road included in the cost estimate. In total, the project area encompasses approximately 0.25 acres behind the house of April Murphy as marked on the plans. This project will not directly disturb the stream. This project will not address underground mine openings. No trees will be disturbed outside of the drainage area. All areas disturbed by this project will be revegetated by means of the Standard AML Reclamation Seed Mixture. Cover crop is also provided in order to provide quick vegetative cover on any disturbed areas that will go undisturbed for at least two weeks, but not be ready for application of permanent revegetation. Sediment control will be provided by silt fences or straw bales along the drainage area and along ditches going to the creek as needed.
