The City of Pleasanton is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to interested firms to conduct public outreach and provide conceptual design services for either an additional skatepark, or the expansion of the existing skatepark, at Ken Mercer Sports Park. The goal for the public outreach and design services is to obtain input from a wide array of community members that may be interested in the project, including skateboarders, parents with children that skateboard, neighbors (both commercial and residential), sports groups that use the adjacent fields, and other community members. The public outreach should be extensive and afford a variety of different opportunities for the community to provide input. The conceptual design should incorporate input from the public into a skatepark design that includes all the amenities that would be required to support the skatepark (lighting, paving, parking, shade, furnishings, landscape, etc.). The public outreach and conceptual design phase, the first phase of the skatepark project and the subject of this RFQ, should also include an Initial Study of environmental impacts of the project, identify estimated project costs, and have a fully developed final design so that the City can proceed with construction documents and identify a funding source for the construction of the project. Funding has already been allocated for the design services required for the skate park project. Statements are accepted electronically only and must be received no later than 2 p.m., local time, on January 13, 2021. Please see the RFQ for more information.
