The Ames Laboratory, a US DOE Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) is projecting to purchase an integrated energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and electron-backscatter diffraction (EBSD) system for installation on a new scanning electron microscope (SEM).
The EDS detector must have a detector area of at least 50 mm2 and provide a minimum solid angle of 0.03 sr.
The EBSD detector shall provide a forward scattering detector for crystallographic orientation mapping.
The Ames Laboratory may purchase such a system as a package with an SEM through an SEM vendor, or may purchase it directly from an EDS/EBSD vendor. (See separate RFI for SEM system, RFI-SEM.)
