The Department of Commerce (DOC), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Material Measurement Laboratory's Surface and Interface Research Group (SIRG) conducts research on the development of innovative metrologies and measurement protocols for micro/nano-scale heterosystems analysis. Measurement techniques are used to determine sample composition as well as structural, electronic, and chemical properties of a wide variety of organic, inorganic and biomolecular systems where materials of interest are typically present as either micro/nano-scale features or monolayer/multilayer films. To meet mission requirements; the SIRG needs to procure a replacement solid state pump laser for an existing Coherent Laser Group MIRA 900 D, Ultrafast Ti:S Laser. This laser system performs hyperspectral measurements using both custom built optical and optomechanical, user supplied components.

Coherent part number: 1225486; 1 EACH, Verdi optically pumped semiconductor laser producing 12 watt at 532nm, with RMS noise of <0.02% from 10 Hz to 10MHz, a TEMoo mode, power stability of <±1% peak to peak, pointing stability < 2 µrad/°C, and beam circularity of 1.0 ± 0.1.

Pursuant to this application, the solid state pump laser must be fully compatible with existing Coherent ultrafast laser systems (MIRA 900D and MIRA OPO) and Coherent synchronization electronics (Synchrolock-AP) yielding optimal performance with respect to phase noise, mode quality, stability, and control.

The intent for this requirement will be to sole source to Coherent.
